Bruce William Sims has lived in the Newmarket area all his life.

He was educated at Soham Grammar School and N.E. Essex Technical College.

Bruce started as a draughtsman at Sprite Caravans and, after being a “technical go between” for their factories in Sweden, Germany and Italy, became Technical Director of C.I. Caravans.

Bruce raced pigeons for 44 years and served as clocksetter and secretary for Newmarket & District Homing Society.

He took up golf at retirement and joined the Links Golf Club in 1996 having a year as Seniors’ Captain in 2006.

In the same year he joined Probus and became Honorary Treasurer in 2010. He was made a life member in 2025.
