Mike was born in Burnley, Lancashire and moved to Blackburn in 1955. He has remained a supporter of Burnley Football Club.

He was an undergaduate at Wadham College, Oxford before joining the Civil Service as a Patent Examiner. After two years he returned to Oxford to study for a D.Phil.

He then spent 11 years as a University Lecturer in St Andrews before moving to the Open University in the Academic Computing Service.

After 10 years in Milton Keynes, Mike joined Digital Equipment Corporation in Newmarket, starting as a networking consultant but ending up as a software engineer working on customer projects.

Mike has been a member of the committe since 2021 and has been responsible for the website and communications.

His other interests include the Links Golf Club where he was Secretary of the Seniors Section for 12 years and classic cars. He was a founder of the Rover P6 Owners Club and was a commttee member of the club for many years.
